Group role-play (groups of three)
Pretend that a time machine has brought together two young students: one from ancient Babylon (under Hammurabi's Code) and another from the ancient city of Jerusalem (under the Ten Commandments).
The host of a top-rating student radio program, 'Time Travellers', is to interview the pair and discuss the following topic: 'Some laws stay the same throughout time!'
Your group may choose to tape record the interview or perform it live to the class.
Suggested plan:
- Host introduces the program and explains the aim of the interview.
- Host welcomes the guests and invites each to describe what it is like living under the codes/laws of their land.
- Host and guests discuss the topic: 'Some laws stay the same throughout time!'
- Host concludes the discussion and thanks the guests.
- Host sends each back through time.
